Ruben Naeff has composed many works for orchestra, ensemble, chamber music, dance and film. He collaborated with such groups as Berkeley Symphony, Orchestra Con Brio, Signal, JACK Quartet, Deviant Septet, Wild Rumpus, and Aspen Contemporary Ensemble. His music has been performed in seven European countries and several American states and was presented by such venues as the Bang on a Can Marathon in New York City. Ruben co-­founded the West 4th New Music Collective, producing over 10 concerts so far, including an original evening-length oratorio about Moby Dick. In 2008 he released his CD De Bètacanon.

Ruben was awarded the prestigious HSP Huygens Talent Scholarship to study for two years with Michael Gordon at New York University. Ruben attended the conservatories of Amsterdam and The Hague and studied musicology and mathematics at the University of Amsterdam. He attended master classes by Louis Andriessen, David Lang, Augusta Read Thomas and Christopher Rouse and programs of Aspen Music Festival, Bang on a Can, MusicX, EarShot's Under Construction, UNL Chamber Music Institute and June in Buffalo.
