The music of Pedro Faria Gomes (b.1979, Lisbon) has been performed regularly in Europe, America and Asia, at venues such as the Wigmore Hall, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, Southbank Centre, Oxford Playhouse (UK), Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, National Theatre São João (Portugal) and The Intimacy of Creativity Festival (Hong Kong). His works have been performed by musicians including the BBC Singers, I Solisti Veneti, Casa da Música Symphony, Metropolitana de Lisboa, Madeira, Norte, Algarve and Sinfonietta de Lisboa Orchestras, Contemporary Consort, Composers Ensemble, Eidos Trio, Richard Stoltzman and Mary Wu. In 2010 he was one of the composers at the Royal Opera House VOX programme, Covent Garden.

He received the PRS Sir Arthur Bliss Memorial Award, Lopes-Graça Prize, Stanley Picker Trust Award, and scholarships from the Royal College of Music and Fundação Ciência e Tecnologia.

Pedro Faria Gomes has lectured in Analysis and Composition since 1999 and is currently composer-in-residence and professor of Composition and Music Theory at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Recent commissions include the Philharmonia Orchestra's Bartók Festival (UK), a CD by Wesley Ferreira (USA) and a symphonic work for Guimarães European Capital of Culture 2012 (Portugal). He is currently working for a PhD at the Royal College of Music with Kenneth Hesketh and Mark-Anthony Turnage.
